How a Water Transfer Company Deploys Construction Capabilities to Meet Customer Needs

As a water transfer company, Keystone Clearwater is well versed in engineering solutions for water transfer and management for the natural gas and oil industries. We also bring our expertise and experience to municipal and industrial applications through our FieldForce Pumping & Power Solutions division.

The work of a water transfer company doesn’t start or end with a system of generators, pumps and pipe. Projects require serious construction knowledge and capabilities – whether it’s awareness of environmental impact and regulations, or designing and implementing erosion control on site.

Keystone Clearwater has construction services that meet or exceed those of other water transfer companies. While the crux of what we do relates to waterline installation – for instance, when there’s a road to cross so burying a pipe in the ground is necessary – we have multiple other construction capabilities.

Here’s what we do for projects, big and small, for the industries we serve. The order (below) follows the typical progression from planning and permits to site preparation, construction, installation, monitoring, and finally, post-construction steps for a water transfer job.

  • Permitting and engineering – Initial planning and approval processes, including regulatory permits and engineering designs.
  • Temporary/permanent access road construction – Build roads for site access during the project.
  • Site work – well pads, impoundments, compression, metering, and regulation stations – Build out the site infrastructure from pads to impoundments as needed for the water transfer project.
  • Road grading, ditching, and maintenance – Prepare the roadways for short- and long-term use and maintain access routes.
  • Erosion and Sedimentation control, installation and maintenance – Implement measures to control erosion during the construction process using best management practices (BMPs) such as creating water bars and installing filter socks.
  • Temporary pipelines – Set up temporary pipelines for initial water transfer (as a water transfer company, we also do this in partnership with other companies, as required by the client.)
  • Utility services – Establish necessary utilities, such as power (we have both gas and diesel generators, for instance), for operations.
  • Winching services – Aid in the movement of equipment or materials as needed during the project.
  • Site mowing and maintenance – Perform regular maintenance on site, such as mowing vegetation, clearing snow and ice, etc.
  • Site inspection and routine monitoring – Ongoing inspections and monitoring to ensure everything is working as planned.
  • Post Construction Stormwater Management (PCSM) plan implementation – Final stormwater management steps after construction, as required based on the project.
  • Site reclamation – Restore the land to its original state or as required after project completion.

As a water transfer company, Keystone Clearwater takes pride in the work we do from planning, problem solving and implementation of projects for the natural gas and oil industries as well as for industrial and municipal applications. Using our expertise and relying on our team of seasoned professionals we can offer construction capabilities that support the work we do as a water transfer company.
